Barcud Motor Club was formed in 1991, and was initially based in the Penuwch Inn, near Tregaron. It now meets at the Three Horse Shoe, Llangeitho (map reference 146/619598). Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month.
The club’s major event is the Barcud Rally, which is traditionally held every August. The first Barcud Rally was held in 1992, as a closed-to-club event, and has since grown to become one of the most popular road rallies in Wales, it being a round of the Association of North Western Car Clubs, Association of West Midland Motor Clubs and Welsh Border Car Club championships. In 2017, the event was included in the Welsh Association of Motor Clubs championship, for the first time since 1999.
The club’s other rally is the Chris Hellier Memorial Rally, named after a stalwart member of the club, who was always willing to marshal and help in any other way he could. Since it first ran in 2004 (as a 12 car), all profits from the event have gone to local charities, and we have handed over more than £15,000 since the event began. The rally is now run as a Targa event, using private land for special tests.
We also run a successful autotest championship, with the majority of rounds taking place at the Mid Wales Activity Centre in Pontrhydfendigaid.
New members are always welcome at meetings or any other events held by us. We also have a club Facebook page.
